It started with trees.

Brian wanted to grow Christmas trees.

That was the original plan, anyway.

In 2018, the first trees went into the ground at Old Stage Farms. Since then, what started as a Christmas tree farm has slowly turned into something a little harder to explain — our home, flowers, projects, experiments, a studio in the making, and an ever-growing list of things we haven't tried yet.

Some of it has worked. Some of it to never be spoken of again.

We're still growing Christmas trees. We're just also growing the place around them.

The people behind the place

BRIAN “SNUG”
The one who started it.

Christmas trees were Brian's idea in the first place. Builder, grower, fixer and the person most likely to figure out how to make whatever we've dreamed up actually work.

DANI MAE
The one who keeps adding things.

Flowers, Mae to Marz, workshops, Field Notes and approximately seventeen ideas before breakfast. Grower, maker and habitual starter of projects that Brian will eventually be asked to help build.

DALLAS MARZ
The reason we keep doing it.

Chief dirt tester, equipment inspector and master distractor. Growing up alongside the farm — and reminding us that a lot of this was supposed to be fun in the first place.

More than trees, eventually

Christmas trees are still the long game.

In the meantime, we're growing flowers, building out the studio, experimenting with what works on this land, and finding ways to invite other people into it.

Some things will become permanent. Some will be seasonal. Some will probably be attempted once and quietly retired.

That's part of the experiment.

CHRISTMAS TREES
The long game.
Planted since 2018. Growing slowly, teaching us patience whether we asked for it or not.

FLOWERS + MAE TO MARZ
The creative experiment.
Flowers, workshops, the studio and whatever else we decide to try before breakfast.

WHAT'S NEXT
Still figuring that out.
New plantings, seasonal projects, farm experiences and ideas that haven't gotten us into trouble yet.
